Newsletters > Jan 2007: Kazakhstan Adoption

Greetings from Shorter Designs! This month I am writing about something more personal to my family. Please read on to see how you might want to help.

As most of you know, I am predominately a stay-at-home mom, working on occasional Saturdays. Our daughter, Rachel, will be 2 in June (so hard to believe!). As a way to grow our family, we felt the Lord leading us to adopt our next child from overseas. We began the process around Thanksgiving, 2006.

Kazakhstan

We are requesting one (or two girls if available) from Kazakhstan, which is between China and Russia. We chose Kazakhstan because they are Turkic people, and Kevin and I lived in Turkey a few years ago. Kazakhs have many similarities to Turks, and we really enjoyed Turkish people. We are thrilled, just as we were when we found out we were expecting Rachel!!

One down side to adoption (as opposed to a biological child) is the financial aspect. We have been told by many who have adopted from Kazakhstan to expect the overall adoption process to run more than $35,000. Because of this, I am going to be picking up more hours to work and help people get organized.

What this means for you is that if you have a heart for children or adoption, you can help bring our daughter(s) home. Every penny I make above my operating costs will go directly to pay for this adoption. So if you hire me anytime in 2007, you will know that your money is going to help bring a family together, as well as give a child a good future in a stable home environment instead of spending her life in an orphanage.

I would appreciate referrals to any friends or family who may have a heart for adoption or children, and could use some help organizing their homes or lives. I also have gift certificates available if you would like to give my services as a gift to someone you know.

I really enjoy my clients and my job. Thank you for taking an interest in me personally and for any help you can give us for our new adventure! Happy New Year!
